KA'K HILU



Ingredients  


  • 1 cup water 
  • 1 cup sugar 
  • 1 cup oil 
  • 4-5 cups flour 
  • 1 Tbl. sp. Baker's Ammonia 
  • 1 Tbl. sp. Fennel Seeds 
  • 1 Tbl. sp. sesame seeds (optional) 

Directions  


  • Mix water, oil, fennel seeds and sesame seed well in a large bowl.
  • Add Sugar and Baker's Ammonia and mix.
  • Gradually add flour and mix with hands until a soft dough is formed.
  • Take a portion of the dough and roll into a loaf, cut into equal size pieces.
  • Roll each piece into circles, S-shape, 8-shape or any desired shape.
  • Arrange on a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350-375 F (185 C).




KA'K MALEH



Ingredients  


  • 5 cups flour 
  • 2-1/4 cup olive oil 
  • 1-1/2 water
  • 1 Tbl. sp. dry yeast 
  • dash of salt

Directions  


  • Mix yeast with water.
  • Place flour in a bowl, add rest of ingredients and knead well.
  • Let it sit for 2-3 hours.
  • Take a portion of the dough, a size of a grapefruit, and shape into a loaf.
  • Cut into equal size pieces.
  • Shape into circles.
  • Arrange on a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350-375 F (185 C).
